Jan doesn't like it when they enter the apartment through his head
Come play with my erection, can't you see that it's standing at attention?
I'm amenable to a personal inspection, I've come to pay respect to your 32 perfections
You're never gonna get to Jannah killing dreams like that
For we’ll see that it just never happens
I met your friend at the festival, he asked me why I was so pretentious
As I was being interviewed, I was thinking
"My god, don't they always pick the wrong time to try and break your heart?"
Everybody seems so critical
He started shaking 'cause he realized that we were so alike
Like those sister-skinny kids who are always making scenes out of nothing
Yeah, so anyways I guess we're friends now
It's a knocked up slut kind of afternoon and the cannibal cord goes up your heart
They only shoot dead people now
They said they only shoot them after they're dead
The ram has touched the wall
The ram has touched the wall
The ram has touched the wall

Throughout this album, somehow, Sufjan makes me care about the state of Illinois. From detailed depictions of various landmarks and folklore, to moments of deep personal introspection; Illinois builds an incredibly dense narrative out of it's seemingly simple concept. The variety of sounds on this album is remarkable, compelling me to smile in one moment, then leaving me a sobbing mess in the next. One of the very few albums I'd consider to be 100% perfect.
